We continues coordinating the centre. All classes and activities are going as normal.
For over 40 years, the Pagoda Centre has been a place where Chinese-speaking communities can connect through culture, build confidence, and access practical support—especially when language barriers, digital exclusion, or discrimination make everyday life harder.
Successful stories and impact
Covid-19 pop-up / vaccination hub
During the pandemic, we supported a temporary vaccination hub and provided healthcare access and translation support to 2,500+ people, including international students and non-English speakers. We also shared essential resources to reduce misinformation and barriers to support.
Scam support and advocacy
When 30+ families were targeted by scams—losing nearly £150,000—we supported people who struggled to seek help due to language barriers. We provided translation, advocacy and practical guidance so people could navigate complex processes and pursue recovery routes.
Hate crime support
As hate incidents affecting East and Southeast Asian communities increased during Covid-19, we supported victims with practical and emotional help and worked with partners to advocate for fair outcomes.
