Making Tofu – There are legends in some regions of China about the Kitchen Deity reporting to heaven, the Jade Emperor himself may come down to visit and check to make sure the reports were true. Therefore, everyone will eat tofu scraps to show they’re in poverty and get away from punishment.
Welcoming the Jade Emperor – On the day, everyone will leave offerings and pray to the Jade Emperor, wishing to be blessed for the year
