  • The eighth day is believed to be the birthday of ‘grain’, which is an important crop in modern and ancient China. If this day is bright and clear the year’s harvest will be a success; however, if this day is cloudy or even rainy, the year’s harvest will be poor.

  • The main purpose of this festival is to show respect to farmers and cherish the food we have; children will be taught not to waste food and show appreciation.
